Day 2 Wrap

That's it folks from us here at the D4 Events Amateur Championship of Poker 2013, it's a new event from the promoters where the aim of the event is to give the recreational player the chance to play in a tournament with all the trappings of a big buy-in event for a modest entry of €200 and I think it was a resounding success.

Phil Baker maning the live stream for the entire two days didn't miss a beat and sitting beside him for the weekend (even managing to jump in for a stint) have to say was excellent, found out earlier that he will be back in action next week at the Europan Deepstack so looking forward to that.

Total of 198 players took to the felt and generated a prizepool of €32,670 74 players made it through Day 1 and out of those Sammy O Brien was the chipleader who eventually went on to cash in 7th for €1,225 not a bad showing from the local player, we got off to a flyer today in terms of bustout as I was feed a constant stream of media cards from TD Nick O Hara and within a short couple hours play we were down around the money bubble, down to 20 players and the last lady remaining in the even Willow Connolly asked about paying all remaining players a notion that was shot down pretty quick, with that done and done play commenced for a little while longer until Connolly herself had the misfortune of being crowned the bubblegirl and just missed out on a payday.

Everybody now in the money things started to flow a little easier that all remaining players were going to be guaranteed a return on their investment, as we made our way from 18 down to 10 Nigel Millar missed out on the final table eliminated at the hands of Mark Spelman with KK vs AK. Final table was set & Spelman going onto the table as the chipleader it wasn't going to be his day as things transpired to go against him, Conor Blain was the first player to bust out from the table after which the knockouts seemed to stagnate for awhile, but as soon as 8th went the rush of exits was pretty quick as we dropped down to 4. Pausing play while the players trashed out a deal we eventually got back underway and made our way down to heads up play between Kieran Small & Mark Delaney who would go to take down the event when he was victorious with Q9.

Would just like to say a huge thank you to all who tuned into the blog and viewed the live stream, for all the comments we received over the duration of the two days, myself on the blog/Phil Baker on the stream/Ailbe Collins on cameras/Gary Jarman behind the scenes, cheers folks. Don't forget to like ACOP on Facebook & follow @D4_Events on Twitter, where you can see videos that were shot over the two days.

With that I will bid you all adue and please do tune into our next coverage from Thursday next week when we will be bringing you all the action from the European Deepstack Poker Championship, catch you all on the flipside...
