Day 1 Wrap

That's a wrap from here at the inaugural D4 Events Amateur Championship of Poker, €25,000 guarantee was smashed with a total prizepool of €32,670 generated from 198 players who took to the felt today.

Tournament concept to draw in the recreational/amateur to the game and give them all the trappings of a big festival feel for a mid to low buy-in, live blog/live stream interviews throughout the day (some of which can be found on the D4 Events YouTube page) top staff to over see the running of the event, I'm looking forward to hearing the feedback from the players on their overall experience.

Quick start to the day when Aido O Reilly was the first player eliminated shortly into play, Bob Tait had a good kick off to the start of play when he had a bagpiper play him into his seat at the end of the end was a sight to behold, also throughout the day there was spot prizes and an auction for a signed Celtic shirt that Eamon Connolly ended up bidding €350 to go to a good cause of Our Ladys Hospital for Sick Children Crumlin.

75 players remain from the 198, chipcounts & seat draws will be posted when I receive them, Sammy O Brien will be heading into Day 2 as the tournament chipleader after making a mistake with a call just a few hands before the of play with 8s9s to crack QQ which left him with a stack of 156,000
